No, it is not a scam. Miles Franklin has over 25 years of history in the business and is an established organization that seems to be doing good.
YES! There are a few ones I would consider better alternatives, I got many of them listed on this site, but the absolute best one I can recommend is; Augusta Precious Metals.
Miles Franklin is a good choice if you are a collector looking to buy some extra coins or bars. If you already have your own secure storage to store your precious metals in Miles Franklin can probably help you find some good products to fill out your collection.
The fact that they are not a true gold custodian brings down the overall rating since my opinion is that you should have one go-to company that can fit all your needs. The lack of customer reviews online makes it harder to evaluate the company as well. This company suits people who are looking to expand their already existing portfolio. If you are a first-time buyer this company is not the right choice for you!

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and that is true in most cases. At first, glance Kitco Metals didn’t strike me as a sincere company. When I first saw the website my thoughts were that this company has to be a scam.
The website is stuck in the ’90s and definitely needs an upgrade, there are too many pages, ads, and sponsored material. The external links that open up in new windows are annoying and made me want to give up on it. But then I found what I was looking for, it takes time and is not the best websites I have seen but it seem to be a decent company.
In my opinion, a gold custodian should build trust with the client right off the bat. It is important that it is clear and easy to find the facts that you need. If it takes too long or if you can´t find what you are looking for it is likely that you’ll give up. In a modern world where the alternatives are many, it is extra important that the message you are trying to convey shines through in less than a minute. Maybe some people like the design of Kitco.com but for me, it brought down the experience and that is why my overall rating is a 1 out 5 this time around.

Strategic Gold seems like an honest company that really focuses on bringing the clients good products to great prices. They know their facts, the website is full of interesting reading material of gold history and why you should invest in it. The fact that there isn’t a lot of data to be found online is a bit odd since they’ve been around for nearly a decade now.
My overall rating is 2 stars out of 5, the reason for that is that they don’t compare to all the other gold custodians out there who offer more products and services.
