Ok, with that being said, let´s continue with the review on Sterling Jewelers!
What is Sterling Jewelry about?
Ok, when landing on their website you can clearly understand that this company is a jewelry dealer that provides clients with different forms and shapes of diamond jewelry. I went to their website to look at what they write on their about page and this is the exact words I found:
Signet Jewelers Limited is the largest specialty jewelry retailer in the US, UK and Canada. Signet operates approximately 3,600 stores primarily under the name brands of Kay Jewelers, Zales, Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry, H.Samuel, Ernest Jones, Peoples and Piercing Pagoda. The company’s annual sales of approximately $6 billion derive from the retailing of jewelry, watches and associated services.
Expressing romance and appreciation through bridal jewelry and gift giving is very important to our customers, as is self-reward. Signet believes customers associate our brands with high quality jewelry and an outstanding customer experience. Signet increases the attraction of Signet’s store brands to customers through the use of branded differentiated and exclusive merchandise, while offering a compelling value proposition in more basic ranges. In all aspects of our business, Signet follows the operating principles of excellence in execution, testing before investing, continuous improvement, and disciplined investment.
Signet is committed to delivering increasing value to our stakeholders while seeking to uphold our social, ethical and environmental principles, defined by the brand attributes of global leadership, innovation and sustainability.
Worth to mention:
Something that stands out here is that when describing themselves they call the company Signet and not Sterling? What is going on?
How does it work?
Their website is pretty self-explanatory, and how it works is basically that you browse for what you are interested in, place an order and then get your jewelry delivered to your desired address.
The products and services
The products offered on their website are the following:
- Rings
- Necklaces
- Bracelets
- Earrings
- Charms
- Watches
- Assorted
- Personalized (design your own jewelry)
- Bridal
- Collections
Can you get the jewelry delivered home?
Yes, you can.
You got free shipping and can choose to get it delivered to a Sterling store or to your door.
How is the support?
One thing I always put a lot of weight on when it comes to the support system of a company is if they have a live chat function on their site or not. Does Sterling have this?
No, they don´t, and that takes the rating down (at least in my book).
They do have e-mail support and a phone support also for you to turn with your questions.
Is Sterling Jewelry a scam?
So, is Sterling Jewelry a scam? Well, it is not a scam, but there are some things I consider red flags. For example, the “about us” page where they name themselves Signet instead of Sterling? How come? Maybe it got something to do with the fact that they are accused of sexual harassment (see below).
So even if it is not a scam, you might want to look at other alternatives before you order yourself some jewelry.
Other online reviews and ratings
BBB
Rating: N/A
Trustpilot
Rating: N/A
Glassdoor
Rating: (2.6 / 5) (out of 687 reviews) click here to read them all (opens in new window)
The conclusion from this: Well, as you can see there is not much info from the BBB and the Trustpilot sites, however, we managed to find reviews on the Glassdoor website and as you can see above they are not very impressive.

Sex discrimination and harassment proceedings
Below are something I found, and that you can read yourself on Wikipedia about the company that is part of the same “family”, their history of sexual harassment of 69,000 female employees…
This is an exact excerpt from Wikipedia on the Sterling Company:
Sterling Jewelers is being sued by 69,000 female employees and former employees for sexual harassment and sex discrimination in an ongoing class arbitration proceeding,[1][6] In February 2017, The Washington Post obtained and reported on declarations made by about 250 women and men who worked for the company. The declarations state that men in supervisory roles at Kay Jewelers and Jared the Galleria of Jewelry sexually harassed younger saleswomen by groping, making demeaning comments, and demanding of sexual favors in return for promotion and higher pay. Signet Jewelers’s CEO Mark Light and other senior executives were among those accused of demanding sexual favors.[1] The former employees also accuse Sterling of wage violations, contending that women at the company were “systematically paid less than men and passed over for promotions given to less experienced male colleagues.”[1] The company denies the allegations.[1]
Separately, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission brought sex discrimination claims against the company in 2008. In May 2017, the EEOC and Sterling Jewelers settled the case by a consent decree; under the settlement, Sterling Jewelers does not have to pay a monetary sum and does not acknowledge any wrongdoing, but agreed to adopt new anti-discrimination policies and to hire an independent expert to review the company’s compensation and promotion policies. The EEOC settlement does not affect the separate class action proceeding.
The Pros and Cons
It is always a good idea to look at a company’s good sides and compare them to the not so good sides. As always in our reviews we provide you with some clear points on both sides of the spectrum:
The good
- Wide selection of jewelry
The bad
- Not much info on their website
- Pretty bad ratings + not mentioned by either BBB or Trustpilot
- The sex scandal
- No live chat support

Final words and verdict
Overall rating: [usr2]
Ok, I think that sums up the overall picture of this company pretty good for now. It was not easy to find info on them and what I managed to find was not really very positive so, for now, the rating 2 out of 2 stars seems very fair. This can of course change to an either higher or lower one in the future.
But for now, I cannot recommend this company to anyone, especially not when there are other online jewelry dealers that got much better reviews and ratings from its clients.
