What is Treasure Island Coins? – Reviews are Not Found?

March 1, 2023 by Glanz Leave a Comment

We have gone through all Treasure Island Coins reviews to be found online, at least the ones from the independent, third-party consumer protection agencies. Hopefully this make this review as helpful as possible to you. Let´s go!

Company: Treasure Island Coins & Precious MetalsWhat is treasure island coins

Website: treasureislandcoins.com

Owner: Christopher Olsson (CEO)

Who is it for: Precious Metals Investors

Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

Important to mention before we continue with the review:

It´s  always strongly recommend that you do your own research online before you decide what company to do business with. There are so many reviews online with stories of people being ripped off and scammed. One common way companies get away with this is they disguise charges in so-called “hidden fees”.

So please make sure to always be aware and please, investigate and compare different alternatives before you make your choice when it comes to big investments.

——–> See our Top-5 List of Gold & Silver Companies HERE!

With that being said, let’s continue with the review!

What is Treasure Island Coins?

Treasure Island Coins, Inc. was founded in 1976 (according to BBB). The owner is Greg Olson and the President is Chris Olson. The company is based in Fargo. This company offers precious metals to their customers, mainly as a way to preserve the wealth of their clients. Their services are only for US clients.

Their full address is: 1429 42nd St S, Fargo, ND 58103-3320

How does Treasure Island Coins work?

They offer maninly two services to you, either you purchase any of their precious metals directly, or you invest in precious metals through an IRA. Simply put, you choose the metals you want from their online store, either IRA eligeble or for a direct purchase. Then, you move ahead with your order.

Gold & Silver IRA services?

Like many of it´s peers this precious metals dealers company offers Precious Metals IRA services for those who are interested.

They are partnered with the well-known IRA custodian named New Direction Trust Company, and the storage they offer is through Dakota Depository.

However, there is no info on the fees involved with opening a new IRA account with them on the website.

What about the fees?gold

As mentioned above, I did not manage to find any info at all about the fees involved in opening up a precious metals IRA with Treasure Island Coins.

I let this up to you to do your own research IF you are interested in moving forward with an application to become a customer of their company.

In my book, it´s not a good sign that there isn´t any info on fees openly on display for everyone to see on the website…

How is the support?support

You can contact Treasure Island Coins by phone (701-282-4747) Monday through Friday (9:00am – 5:30pm CST) or by email (sales@treasureislandcoins.com).

Something I always put a lot of weight on when it comes to the supports system of a particular company is if they got a live chat function on their website or not. Treasure Island Coins Precious Metals did not have this and that is a small minus as well (in my book).

They have some social media precence though in the form of a Facebook and Instagram account where I assume it´s possible to contact them as well, if you are using any of those two platforms…

Treasure Island Coins Reviewstreasure island coins reviews

As always in our reviews we provide you with the online reviews we find, mainly from the most well-known and trusted, independent thoird-party consumer protection agencies. We do this as it is normally the absolute best indication of how good of a service a particular company provides to their clients.

Below you can see the scores and ratings:

BBB (Better Business Bureau)Gold Retired

Overall rating: A – (from 8 reviews) click here for details (opens in new window)

Trustpilot

Overall rating: N/A

Yelp

Overall rating: N/A

Birdeye

Overall rating: 3.7 out of 5 stars (3.7 / 5) (from 93 reviews) click here for details (opens in new window)

BCA (Business Consumer Alliance)

Overall rating: N/A

Trustlink

Overall rating: N/A

Conclusion from this:

Well, as you clearly can see there aren´t that many reviews to be found, the only place we found reviews were on the Birdeye website. Nothing from Trustpilot, and not even a single review from the BBB website, where they have scored an A+ rating… Not sure how that works from zero reviews though? They are however NOT an accreddited business by the BBB.

All in all, their online precence when it comes to reviews are not that great which I find a bit weird for a company that has been in business since the seventies.

Is Treasure Island Coins a Scam?Gold Retired

So, is Treasure Island Coins Precious Metals a scam? No, I don´t think it´s a scam, I think it´s a legit business. It got a real physical address and a real physical owners.

Also, it has been in business since 1976, and it would not have been able to survive that long if it was a scam, right?

However, if it´s the best one out there is a whole other story.

The reviews to be found online (see above) are not many… Their BBB score is A plus, however, they are not an accreddited business. Something that most of the top gold investing companies are, they also got hundreds and in some cases thousands of positive reviews from the main online watchdog sites.

Are there better alternatives out there?

YES! There are over a handfull of firms I would consider better alternatives, all of them are listed here on this site, but the absolute best one I can recommend (especially for IRAs) is: Augusta Precious Metals.

Pros and Cons

The goodPros

  • Shippments are fully insured
  • Offers precious metrals IRA services
  • Offers many different precious metals (even copper)
  • Experienced business (founded in 1976)

The badDrawback

  • No info on fees on their website
  • No live-chat
  • Not many reviews from the most well-known consumer protection agencies

Final words and verdict

Verdict: Below average

Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

Treasure Island Coins has been around for a long time and that is almost always a plus, at least in my book.

However, there are not much info to be found on their website, at least not about fees and that is a minus (in my book).

They had some good reviews to be found online, however, none of them were from the most well-known consumer protection agencies and I find that a bit strange. If you got a good answer to why then please tell us in the comment section below!

As always, the decision is up to you to make, our job is only to help you to make that job easier for you by presenting what we find about a particular company. Please just ALWAYS remember to compare different alternatives and do your own research always.

What company do we recommend?Gold Retired

You are a smart person, you have shown that by reading this far, meaning you are doing your own research. So, I am absolutely sure that you will find the right company to do business with. There are a ton of firms out there that deals with precious metals, however, keep in mind that many of them aren´t that great… to say the least.

The absolute best one I can recommend is one that offer you FREE fees for yup to 10 years, plus they got a unique one-on-one webinar they offer their potential clients and that is something no other company in this industry does, at least not what we know of, and we have reviewed over 160+ gold dealers in the US.
