Company: Wholesale direct metals
Owner: Edwin Solorzano
Who is it for: People looking to invest in precious metals.
Overall rating: (3.5 / 5)
Important to mention before we go into more details of this review:
We always strongly recommend doing your research online before you choose a company to invest with. There are so many reviews online of clients being ripped off and scammed. The most common way people are getting scammed is through so-called “hidden-fees” so please investigate thoroughly before you make your decision.
With that being said, let´s continue with the review on Wholesale Direct Metals!
The number of precious metals dealers is growing by the day. Choosing to work with the first one that you hear about isn’t the smartest of options. Analyzing competition and considering alternatives that might be miles better is always highly recommended. At gold retired, we want you to have the best experience possible while investing in precious metals, through a series of reviews that investigate different companies, just like this one!
What is Wholesale Direct Metals?
Based in Pacific Palisades California and founded in 2006, Wholesale Direct Metals is a precious metals dealer that specializes in exclusive issue “private” coins.
This company employs 33 people. Andreas Panosyan is the Director of Operations of wholesale direct metals.
The website looks neat and well organized. But, it suffers from a huge lack of information. All the important details about investing with this company can only be accessed after getting a “free guide” and submitting your email. I didn’t like that because even if guides can be extremely useful, it’s better, for the sake of transparency, to display all the important details directly on the website.
Moving on, here’s a screenshot of the physical address of this company:
What are the products and services offered?
Here is a list of the products Wholesale direct metals offers:
- Gold Coins (proof, rare, IRA eligible)
- Silver Coins (proof, rare, IRA eligible)
- Gold, Silver, Platinum, & Palladium Bars
As you can see, this list isn’t detailed and it doesn’t include the specific products and their prices.
However, Wholesale direct metals give its customers some advice about what specific precious metals to purchase as shown in the following excerpt from their website:
There are two popular types of physical Gold. Bullion products such as Gold Krugerrands, American Eagles, and Maple Leaf’s and older coins such as $20 St. Gaudens and $10 Liberty’s. Generally, short term speculators hold bullion in storage trading accounts and conservative, long term growth investors hold the older coins. Numismatic coins are also more private than bullion and cannot be recalled by the government.
Still, I would’ve liked to see the different types of precious metals offered and their prices directly on the website.
As I mentioned above, if you want to get information about the IRAs this company offers, it’s only possible if you download a “free guide'” after submitting your email. I honestly didn’t like that at all. I find that this reduces Wholesale Direct Metals’ transparency.
You won’t be able to easily compare this company to its competitors without information about at least the specific IRAs it offers.

The same thing for the IRA fees, they’re only accessible through the “free guide”. It’s always highly recommended to investigate any company’s IRA fees before making your decision. “Hidden fees” are where most of the rip-offs take place, you can never be too cautious while investigating precious metals dealers and IRA providers. That’s why I personally go for companies that display a fee schedule or at least the basic information about their IRA fees.

Can you store with the company?
Yes, you can, here’s an excerpt from their website explaining this:
Most clients will take delivery and store their Gold locally in either a bank deposit box, or a safe in their home or business. However, if for any reason you do not want to be bothered with storing your own Gold, or wish to be actively trading in and out of the market over the phone, we can also set up a Gold Storage Account for you.
Can you sell back to the company?
There’s no information about whether you can sell back to this company.
Can you get the precious metals delivered home?
Yes, as it is the case for the vast majority of precious metals dealers, Wholesale Direct Metals offers shipping. Here’s an excerpt from their website that includes their shipping fees:
We charge a flat fee of $37.00 for shipping and insurance on Gold orders. Silver orders can incur slightly higher shipping costs because of its weight. A good rule of thumb is $24.00 plus and extra $10 per $1000. Shipping and insurance is a very nominal charge can often change or be location and weight specific. Quite often we have programs for new clients where shipping can be waived as well so ask!
There’s on information on the Wholesale Direct metals website about whether it ships internationally or not.
What about online ratings and reviews?
It’s always highly recommended to get an idea about what other customers think about a certain company before making your decision. Going through all the review sites might be a bit of a hassle so as always, gold retired gathers them for you and saves you that effort!

Final Words and Verdict
Verdict: Legit ( Based on the physical address provided and BBB accreditation )
Overall rating: (3.5 / 5)
Okay, I think this sums up everything there is to know about Wholesale Direct metals. This company has some decent reviews on some review sites but they’re not too many. Furthermore, the lack of information that you can access directly on the website is kind of a turn-off for me because just like I said above, transparency is one of the most important factors that you should bear in mind before making your decision.
